Affordable Driveway Products—with Staying Power!
Whether you’re repairing your driveway or building one from scratch, selecting the right material is crucial. In addition to the most permanent option of concrete, there are a handful of additional options to choose from. Hengel carries three different products, all of which meet MNDot’s Class 5 specifications. Class 5 contains a specific mix of crushed and graded sand and gravel particles (with a maximum grain size of 1 inch) that provides for good compaction.
Regardless of the type of base you choose, proper placement of the material is key to a long-lasting driveway surface. Not sure if you need help or want to do it yourself? Hengel provides free estimates to help you decide. Just call our office, and we’ll send one of our experts to your location.
Our Products
Class 5 – Regular: this material is made from natural sand and rock as its naturally found in area deposits. It is crushed and mixed to MNDot Class 5 specifications which provides for optimal compatibility.
Class 5 – Recycled Concrete: this product, manufactured on our site, meets the same Class 5 specifications as the regular or all-natural material but is made exclusively from crushed concrete. Many users find this product to have superior staying power when properly placed.
Recycled Asphalt: with many of the same attributes as recycled concrete, this popular driveway material is subject to availability.

FAQS
Q: What is a cubic yard?
A: If you picture a box that is three feet tall, three feet deep and three feet wide, that’s one cubic yard. All concrete, sand, aggregate and topsoil products are measured by the cubic yard. One cubic yard covers eighty square feet at four inches deep.
Q: How do I figure out how many cubic yards of product I need?
A: The calculator page is a good place to start. When you have an irregularly shaped area, as most are, you simply have to estimate the average length, width and depth when imputing data into the calculator. If you want some help or have a question, call us at (218) 746-3355.
Q: How much will my truck hold?
A: A standard half-ton pickup will hold about ½ yard of material.
